I'd say "Domino Theory" Dwight Eisenhower "brought us" Vietnam when he laid out his scary hypothesis about the spread of communism in Southeast Asia and backed Diem in 1954 then sent our first military advisors in 1960. And Kennedy certainly doubled down on our financial and military support of Saigon, but it was Johnson who went all in with bombing raids in the north and sending ground troops into Danang in '65.

Your husband cheats on you, and lies to you about it, until he has to face a deposition under oath.

    So, what's your response?

Savage the woman involved, and the prosecutor.

“She had to do what she had always done before: swallow her doubts, stand by her man and savage his enemies,” Stephanopoulos wrote, describing Hillary Clinton’s reaction.

Yeah, the whole "This party/President did Vietnam" bit is pretty much ignorant nonsense. There's way the hell more than enough blame to go around on that one.

American involvement in Vietnam began in 1950.

But I promise to not vote for JFK for President ever again.

Then again, Donald Trump is alleged to have repeatedly raped a 13-year-old girl. .... but you'll still vote for him.

The brass hats at the Pentagon almost got us blown off the face of the earth.

JFK held them back, even as he was being showered by their drool, so crazed was their determination to attack Cuba.

"The big Red dog is diggin' in our backyard, and we are justified in shooting him!" --- General Curtis LeMay

Of course, the dog was in our backyard only because we had missiles in the USSR's backyard (Turkey). Action begets reaction. 54 years later, we still don't get it.

Big swing in the weekly Rasmussen poll:

    Sept. 22
    Clinton 39, Trump 44, Johnson 8, Stein 2 -- Trump +5

    Sept. 29
    Clinton 42, Trump 41, Johnson 7, Stein 2 -- Clinton +1

Meanwhile, PPP and Reuters released yesterday both had Clinton at +4

To think, I was assured here on SJ last Friday by some pretty astute political observers that the revelation that Cheryl Mills had received limited immunity to hand over her laptop to FBI investigators was going to hurt HRC big time among all of the low-information voters who were surely reading that big story.

You're conveniently ignoring -- or you're ignorant of -- a lot of facts. McGeorge Bundy, JFK's National Security Advisor, advocated for a surprise strike, as did former SecState Dean Acheson.

You could also make the case that Harry Truman started it by sending "advisors" but the fact is that it
was JFK who really ramped it up by sending in special forces troops and by '63 we were up to 16,000
    military personal.
