Are we talking the band "The Archies" from the comic strip? I always thought the singer was Andy Kim.

You're close. Andy Kim performs "Sugar Sugar" in concert because he co-wrote it. Dante was the singer, but it's possible other songs may have been sung by Andy. I'm partial to "Rock Me Gently" myself.

    Damn, Daniel!
'The artist' in the initial question was a hint. How did I not catch that?

Although before 1995, I don't know how one can discuss Minneapolis one hit wonders without mentioning this group:

Bonus points if you correctly guess which band member was one of my, um... very good friends.

As long as it's not the dude on the left ... :)

He looks the bastard child of Paul Kantner and Weird Al Yankovich.

Is that Dave Chappelle dressed up as Rick James?

I like how the guy in the tie grew his fro out so he would be so visible as the shortest guy in the band.

Isn't that Lipps, Inc? I'm not sure I want to guess at the bonus question. ;)

Well that isn't the Mary Jane Alm Band, or the Lamont Cranston Band, I know that for sure.
