    Better than Bostock, right?

Bostock was 1978, Munson was 1979.

    But yeah, probably.

Thanks. I was thinking it was the other way around.

The statement the Marlins put out only mentioned Fernandez.

    Just awful news.

Who was the last to die during a season? Nick Adenhart?

Oscar Taveras died during the playoffs, though the Cardinals had already been eliminated.

Ironic that he died in a boating accident after three attempts to defect to America via boat.

I know this is the least of anyone's concerns at this point, but I'm surprised looking at his numbers now that we didn't talk about him on the awards thread. Led the league in FIP and second to Scherzer in strikeouts in a lot less innings. I wonder if the BBWAA may give him the award posthumously. I don't think it would be without merit.

Apparently spent time in Cuban prisons after the unsuccessful attempts, too.
