Agreed. I was more defending the Twins dumping of Ortiz and saying it wasn't really comparable to the Buhner trade.

Kris is hitting .477 with 7 homers during his 11-game hit streak.

We won't have to factor in his 6 positions.

Bell has a nice glove at first for the Bucs and Kuhl has great stuff. He's lively on the mound.

It wouldn't have mattered if the Yankees management knew what they had with Buehner or any young player who needed time to develop. Steinbrenner was so impatient, he dumped talented kids for fading veterans if he didn't like the sandwich on his plate.

Cutch, Harrison, Polanco, Marte, Bell ... Buccos are set up quite well for awhile.

That outfield is a hell of a foundation, but McCutchen has to raise some concerns with such a disappointing season. Bell still has a ways to go to prove himself, but there is a lot to like. He hasn't shown a ton of power in the minors, but with his size and swing, I think it will come.

I'm not sure why you include Harrison and his .680 OPS in there. He is a nice role player, but nothing more.

Cole's health is a real concern now and long term, but the biggest issue is the one that has held that franchise back for decades. Ownership keeps getting in the way. They were two games out of a wild card spot when they traded their closer a day or two before the deadline. This after an offseason during which they severely weakened the major-league roster, primarily to cut costs. That front office has done a lot for Pirates fans to be excited about. Too bad they don't have the support from the top.

They easily could have. He definitely became a much better hitter in Boston, but look at his last season in Minnesota. He was 26. Are there a lot of examples of teams releasing a 26-year-old who just had 20 hr 75 rbi with a .272 avg?

Trade sending Coco Crisp to Indians expected Wednesday

He has been pissed off here for a few weeks because the A's cut his playing time so he wouldn't reach the games or PAs needed to vest his $13 million option. He needs 28 games or 116 PAs. Guessing the Tribe will see that he finishes just short of that.

A's will replace him with ... some guy whose name isn't worth learning because he'll be gone in two years, either because he isn't good enough or because he's too good.

Just woke up to watch the game on DVR. Cut off in the 7th. Looked at MLB.com for the score.

Damn Soria. Damn bottom of the 10th.

They almost came all the way back off another crap start by Volquez.

A bad loss as nearly everyone else won yesterday.

Just gotta go 21-9 now. Still like KC's schedule. 18 home/12 road. 17 games vs bad teams.

I'd take a guy like Harrison any day.
