The follow-up could be great for this.

In the past, Raw Triple H and NXT Triple H were different beings. One was an authority bad guy, the other was treated like a god by the fans. Is this NXT Triple H barging in to help one of his protégés? And what does this do to the relationship with Steph, who was seemingly still pro-Rollins?

And what does Rollins do next? Obviously, this builds to a PPV match with Trips. Do they milk it out until Survivor Series? Is Rollins still the bad guy since the fans were so overwhelmingly in favor of Owens' win and Triple H's efforts?

It's a weird vibe, though, considering Rollins was the protege in NXT before KO.

It will certainly be interesting to see where they go from here, though. There are so many directions ... hopefully they choose the right one.

I can't believe the way the Triple H and the WWE keeps these new guys down.

Why does HHH have to get put over in everything they do?

That was a great match and a hot as hell crowd, they could've minted KO for the next 15 years with a clean win. Instead HHH because reasons.......it's stupid as hell.

There's no NXT logic. Trips will be buds with KO and presumably Charlotte, but not Bayley or Cass or Zayn? The story doesn't work.

    I agree.

When someone wins this new championship, the story should be them, unambiguously. Instead the story is as much HHH as it is KO. It not only undermines KO, it undermines the belt, because the meta-message is that it will belong not the best wrestler but to whoever is in the current favor of Triple H.

Which may in fact be the reality of the situation, but do you want to throw that in people's faces or let top wrestlers appear to be on top by their merits? I feel like this all goes back to Austin-McMahon, and in its wake the McMahon clan has convinced itself heel management is needed to put stars over.

Let's not give him too much credit for CM Punk or Daniel Bryan.

WWE had to be dragged kicking and screaming into pushing both of those guys. Didn't HHH hate Punk?

Watched some of Smackdown last night. At one point, there was a commercial for a new Blair Witch movie, followed by a tag match with Slater teaming with Rhyno against ... The Headbangers.

I thought it was 1999 again.

How did the crowd react to the Headbangers?

I couldn't really tell. They did do a video vignette on them right before they came out. They seemed to get a small pop, but nothing really major.

It was kinda a weird match. Slater and Rhyno were the faces, although Slater was just acting as he usually does. Rhyno was trying to get the crowd in it. Headbangers were nominally the heels, but weren't very heelish. They mostly destroyed Slater, but he got in a little bit of offense, hen was dragged to the corner by his partner who tagged himself in, then gored one of the Bangers for the win. Also, Rhyno got a big cut on his head from a Banger punch.
