That's normally my plan, which is why I will almost certainly not go to a doctor and will likely run more the more it hurts.

I don't know much about shoes, and rarely spend more than 50 bucks on them. My only true conviction is that adidas makes horrible shoes for athletics. If you like the look, sure. And I often do. But awful if you want performance.

Also, this OTC insole was recommended to me if I'm not ready to invest in the $400 orthotic.

    It really helps.

So does being younger and lighter, but we're beyond that now

When your PF is healed you can use those nubby balls in your dryer. They help stop your clothes from bunching up so they dry faster. Weird, but they do work.

I saw a mention of the nubby balls.

Start with them. Roll your foot over the ball with a lot of pressure, enough to feel pain in the tissue you are working.

Graduate to a tennis ball. Same thing. It will hurt like a son of a bitch.

Graduate to a lacrosse ball. Same thing. When you can put substantial weight on the lacrosse ball, your feet should be good to go.

And stretch the calf and Achilles' tendon ... while that area is warmed up.

    Stretching seems to have helped.

I sometimes have an uncomfortable muscle-stretch feeling or pulled-muscle feeling in my heel.
Not above my heel, but in my heel itself.
Is that PF? It's not pain so much as discomfort.

Could be, I guess. Mine was in the arch itself. Not sure if heel pain qualifies as PF, though I'm sure it still sucks.

The diagram below is from the Mayo Clinic website, but most of the other diagrams have it in the same area. The site describes Plantar fasciitis as "inflammation of the fibrous tissue (plantar fascia) along the bottom of your foot that connects your heel bone to your toes." The description goes on to say that it can cause "intense heel pain."

I've had to learn about this due to my own flat feet, which are causing tendinitis that is fairly severe and Plantar fasciitis that is not nearly as severe. Basically, the collapsed arch is putting stress on all of the soft tissues in my foot. Reconstruction is in my future, probably some time in the next year.

Probably something worth seeing a podiatrist or orthopedic specialist about the problem before that discomfort becomes pain. I waited longer than I should have to start addressing the situation and I'm paying for it now.
