Only played 10 full seasons and his defensive war kills him. Even if you go by his offensive WAR, he would be not make the top 15.

Did Altuve hit with homers in the same inning?

I forgot McGwire and Edmonds fell off the ballot after this last vote so adjusted accordingly:

    Today’s Game (1988-2016)
    1. Lou Whitaker
    2. Rafael Palmeiro
    3. Alan Trammell
    4. Kevin Brown
    5. Kenny Lofton
    6. David Cone
    7. Mark McGwire
    8. Jim Edmonds
    9. Bret Saberhagen
    10. Chuck Finley
Next 5: John Olerud, Orel Hershiser, Will Clark, Robin Ventura, Kevin Appier

What's the worst MLB debut ever? The fourth batter St. Louis' Mike Mayers faced, Adrian Gonzalez, hit a grand slam. The next guy got a double.

He finally got an out on the sixth batter, so he won't end his debut with an ERA of infinity.

And he allows six runs. Took him 45 pitches on a 100-degree day.

He might be done, which would put the ERA at 54.00.

Matheny should send him back out for the second.

Did I miss it or has no one alluded to Sale as a real cut-up? Apologies if someone has.

Good Lord. It's now 9-1 with one out in the second. Mayers finally gets the hook after 61 pitches and four outs.

    ERA is 60.75.
