Read up on UT's recent land purchase in Houston. UH is up in arms about this.

Texas is floating a rumor that UH will stop its opposition to a UT-Houston campus if Texas helps UH earn a Big 12 invitation. There is no truth to the rumor but it forces UH to either deny the non-existent offer and cut its own throat athletically or cave and let Texas open a campus in UH's backyard.

Seems to me BYU and Cincy should be no-brainers if you are adding two, but what do I know?

UCF and Cincy. BYU is more trouble than it's worth.

Bowlsby opened a door for football only members. That gets BYU in.

    I'd vote for...
Cincy: Not every Blue Chip from Ohio who wants to stay in-state can go to Ohio State. This program has enjoyed unprecedented success in the last decade-plus. Bonus points for an underrated on-campus stadium.
Houston: Reunites another member of the Southwest Conference with former rivals*.

*What are the potential obstacles to this?

Wonder how much it would take to peel Arkansas away from the SEC. Would be a plus-minus consideration, a little less money but a chance to be competitive again.

Not to sound like an SEC fanboy, but once a school gets in that league it'd be stone cold stupid to leave. The Big 12 might not be around in five years. At the very least, it's in a state of upheaval right now. The SEC is a moneymaking machine, and Arkansas has been at least decent in most sports at one time or another. They've won the SEC West a few times in football. If they get their act together, they can be a contender.
Arkansas has also been in the SEC for 25 years now. Is there really a groundswell of people pining for them to reunite the old SWC?

If Cincinnati doesn't get in, what do you do if you're WVU? What's the next closest conference team, 1,000 miles away? You have no natural rivals. You're also probably not getting into the ACC. And you may have to make a trip every (at least) few years out to Provo.

You suck it up because that's your only choice unless you want to be a mid-major.

Call up UConn or Temple And ask "so, how are things?"

UConn says, "we won that [men's] basketball title a couple years ago." And the women haven't exactly been derailed by being in the American.

I get that football drives the bus, but the passengers do get some input in the route -- especially when the current route is dragging down the rest of the athletic program.
