Another blow for the masturbators

My late 90s coming of age: Thank god for HBO/Cinemax free weekends, a TV in my bedroom, a VCR and a blank Maxell VHS cassette. Also, that small arch where my dresser met the floor; perfect for VHS cassette concealment.

 

Oh, thank God it was to hide cassettes. I thought....you know.

The secret was to take a VHS tape of a movie that nobody would ever watch but still took up shelf space. Ours was The Great Outdoors.

Scroll in about ten minutes into the movie. Put a piece of tape over the record tab, set the record mode to SLP, get up at about 11 or so, click the remote to whatever Cinemax, HBO or Showtime was on and wake up the next day to paradise. If Kari Wuhrer was in it, even better. All while keeping the tape in the damn box with Aykroyd and Candy on it.

By college, we had perfected the arts of dubbing and had quite the arsenal of Peter North and Christy Canyon artwork.

 

Too much dialogue that way. I was all about the all nighter, selectively compiling a soft core mixtape for future use.

 

Never heard of Christy Canyon until this morning. Thanks for that, hack. Great way to start a steamy, Central American day.

 

Undoubtedly even steamier now.
