The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette seeks a sports writer with multiple strengths. We need someone who can write breaking news, compelling features and enterprise; who is comfortable producing in multimedia; and who’s adept at social media. This is a general assignment position that will cover a variety of professional, college, prep and community sports.

Northwest Arkansas has a population of approximately 600,000 and is located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Home to Walmart, Tyson and the University of Arkansas, the area is one of the fastest growing in the country and often ranks as a top location to live and work.

We offer a competitive salary and a full benefits package.

The position works from our Springdale office. Applicant must be able to work nights and weekends and provide transportation.

The position requires a degree in journalism or related field and a working knowledge of Associated Press style. Experience at either a professional or collegiate newspaper required.

Email resume, clips and links of your multimedia projects to Chip Souza at csouza@nwadg.com.

Chip is a good (albeit short) guy, and NWA is a great place to live.

I wonder if things are Eazy going in NWA. When it's hot, is there an Ice Cube or two readily available? Any Dr. recommendations? Everyone needs a good DOC.
I'm thinking if things go well here, the person hired will have found his or her Ren and will feel like an Arabian Prince.

The National Wrestling Alliance has its own newspaper now?

The NWA and newspapers. Two entities that still wish they were in the 1970s.

Update on this opening: We have cut off taking apps. We've received an overwhelming response to the opening and thanks to everyone who sent clips to me or applied on Indeed. We are going through the process and hope to have the list narrowed by the end of next week. Again, thanks to all who applied. We have a ton of outstanding candidates.
