    Sports Editor-The Independent Mail/independentmail.com and orangeandwhite.com-Anderson SC

Are you a dynamic leader who wants to join an award-winning team? Then you will want to become Sports Editor at the publication that owns the market for all things Clemson. The Independent Mail, known for award-winning Clemson coverage, needs a team leader who is comfortable managing and developing the staff. We are looking for someone with ideas, energy, enthusiasm, and experience. In addition to our coverage of Clemson sports, we provide coverage of Anderson University, University of South Carolina, and University of Georgia athletics plus coverage of area high school sports teams.

You should have a minimum of 5 years of journalism experience, a track record of producing quality journalism, managing projects and strong leadership. You will work with an experienced sports staff of 4 multi-media journalists in addition to award winning photographers and a centralized copy desk to produce compelling coverage on digital, mobile and print platforms. Strong appreciation of story-telling via photographs and graphics is a must. Knowledge of Scribble Live, Periscope and other real-time video and social media tools is desirable as is the ability to evolve as the tools change.

This team produces a daily print and digital edition, a successful weekly sports publication, Orange and White, plus a number of premium print and digital products. You should have an appreciation of how content, marketing and promotion come together to create the ultimate sports enthusiast's media experience.

Anderson is an outstanding and friendly Upstate South Carolina community, part of the Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville DMA, located between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC.

Our sports team covered Clemson's National Championship run in 2015. Come join us and be part of our plan to do it again in 2016.

The Independent Mail is a member of the Journal Media Group. Please apply online at jmg.com/careers.

I worked here back when they were regularly winning APSE awards in the mid-90s. Great section that covered three D-I programs (Clemson, South Carolina and Georgia) and a ton of preps in Upstate S.C. and Northeast Georgia.
Clemson is the bread-and-butter, since the company also owns the Orange & White, a booster publication. And now Anderson University is Division II and somewhat thriving, so there's a lot going on to cover.
While the paper is owned by Journal Media Group now, Gannett just bought JMG and already owns the main competition, the Greenville News. So be forewarned.
    That's all I got.

So, in a nutshell, it's a Gannett property?

Not as of this moment, but it will be later this year once the Journal Media sale is completed. That means editors will become coaches and the copy/design desk will be laid off when everything moves to a Gannett design hub.
