JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - Seeking online sports editor

    Date Posted October 12, 2015
    Industry Digital Media
    Location Omaha, Nebraska
    Position Editor
    Specialty Sports/Outdoors
    Job Status Full-time
    Salary Not Specified
    Website http://Omaha.com

    Description:
    Who needs pro sports?

We cover a perennial college football power and its rabid fanbase, three Division I basketball programs, the College World Series, a Triple A baseball team, and dozens of college and high school programs from across the region.

Plus there’s a steady diet of Olympic trials, national championships and golf tournaments to fill the calendar at a place where sports is front-page news on a daily basis.

And we’re taking serious steps to expand our reach. So maybe you can help.

The Omaha World-Herald is looking for an online editor to join our award-winning sports department.

This is one of two dayside sports online editors. You would split time between writing and editing, plus get time to work on special projects for the
web. You’d comb the web and the wires for news and hot topics and you’d have the freedom to decide the best way to share those stories with our readers. You’d coordinate live coverage of local events and break news on social media.

And you’d do it in a department passionate about experimenting online.

This editor works a Tuesday-Saturday shift. At least one to two years of related experience preferred.

To apply: Email cover letter, resume and work samples by Oct. 31 to Online Editor Ben Vankat at ben.vankat@owh.com.
