Also: the phrase "Popeye's organization" is fucking hilarious.

What did Carson know when he was held at gunpoint and when did he know it?

Oh, and DocQuaint, you mind clarifying what you said in your last response with me?

On GMA this morning, Carson said he instictively understood the Popeyes's gunman was a stick-up guy - vs. a mass shooter - which dictated his response. Then he said:

"It may be that you can't understand that having not lived on the streets, but that's a very easy distinction for me."

The Holocaust thing is intellectually appalling, really. If you can't make a case for gun control in writing - or out loud - with invoking that event, there's the exit, have a good day.

Your Pavlovian response to his statement is just as simple as what he said.

He could have mentioned Tiananmen Square or the crackdown in Tehran, but there's no reason to act offended by a Holocaust reference.

An armed populace is harder to slaughter. Is that not a truism? I supppose you could go the Syrian route, and use chemical weapons, or barrel bombs, but it would be very difficult to round them up like the Nazis did.

To say so is not any kind of insult to the Jews who were killed.

Dr. Ben must have had really steady hands when he was surgeoning. His mind seems to work a couple steps behind his mouth, despite being a brain surgeon and all.

Are you at all familiar with the Holocaust, YF?

They did not just "round up" the Jews. They systematically took rights and property away and then segregated them.

If gold, priceless art and family fortunes were taken by Nazis, doubt they'd leave the guns.

Andrea Mitchell previewed a Ben Carson interview that will run later today, on Morning Joe.

    She loves him.

She did admit that she's known him for a long time, because he operated on a friend, and had done profiles of him previously, bot boy was she gushing about him.

    This is a manufactured controversy.

He first made these statements in March 2014.

His response when CNN first tried to make an issue of this last December is correct:

Pressed by Blitzer on whether the comparison was appropriate, Carson argued his focus on the specific words was "part of the problem."

"What you were doing is allowing words to affect you more than listening to what was actually being said. And that's part of the problem," he said.

"You are just focusing on the words 'Nazi Germany' and completely missing the point of what is being said," he added.

If you want to say he's wrong, or refute what he said, have at it. But the visceral reaction his invocation of the Holocaust and or the Nazis in unwarranted.

He might be wrong, but he didn't say anything insensitive, or insulting.
