This. The mom was the gun freak boasting about open carrying her AK, AR, Glock, etc. And the mom was the one who immersed him in gun world and gave him access to her armory. Yet Jindal blames only the dad... WTF?

His points about the culture shouldn't be dismissed, though, even if his motive is misdirection. We don't have a video game console, just an iPad. But what mine gets exposed to during an NFL commercial break is horrifying. Some of the spots need parental warnings.

Is your wife aware that you have a healthy sex life, Dick?

If one things surgeons and other doctors are known for, it's not being able to talk to and relate to other human beings.

Or realizing that they are human beings.

This is no different than a "fact check" of politicians' talking points.

They could've ignored it, though. It's not like it'll make a difference.

FWIW, an FBI study shows that of 160 active shooter incidents - defined as "an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area" - between 2000 and 2013, only one (a shooting outside of Reno in 2008) was stopped by an armed civilian. Guess 300 million guns isn't enough to stop these guys. We need MORE guns!!!

    https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/20...r-incidents-in-the-u.s.-between-2000-and-2013

This is a link to the story about the civilian who stopped an active shooter: Three dead in shooting at Winnemucca bar
Even in that particular case, it appears the shooter was targeting two specific men from a rival family (who he gunned down).

I think we can stop clinging to the fantasy that these armed civilians can and will stop mass shootings.

This talking point is so silly.

Yes, there are lots of guns in America, but most people aren't carrying them around. Why would you expect this number to be anything but low, especially when killers specifically pick "soft" targets?

It refutes the notion that citizens need to be armed so they can stop these active shooter situations, which is a talking point of the NRA and gun control opponents.
