    There's no issues directly with the ownership (it's family owned) or the workers within the department or in the newsroom. There's a lot of good people there.

    The pay is decent for newspaper of this size and benefits are good.

    But the upper management within the newsroom can be very difficult to work with. There's a lot of micromanaging going on. They often handicap sports even though its one of the most read sections on the website and of course in print while continuing to overfund the Lifestyles section.

    Ross did a great job of maintaining great prep coverage when his department was slashed and other things were asked of the department but I'm not sure that'll be able to continue under new leadership.

    Rumor has it they want to hire someone who can anchor the sports newscast on the local FOX affiliate they own AND be the Sports Editor. Probably for less than $40k.
