Certainly more hope here than at the Oregonian.

When were they wanting to fill this position by?

I was wondering the same thing, MiddletownBSU. Doesn't the Beavers football season start in 11 days?

This position has been filled. Jesse Sowa, formerly of the Albany (Or.) Democrat-Herald, will take over the OSU men's basketball beat, other OSU coverage and high schools.
Kevin Hampton moves from basketball to OSU football. Sports editor Steve Gress is also working football.

Is it just me, or does a four-person sports staff for a paper with a circulation of 12,000 sound pretty darned good?

  8. With a major college program in town it's almost a requirement unless you want to short-change the area high schools. Completely agree, though.
