    Show of goodwill from Tribune:

Is it an apology for the Tribune's shitty sports front from last week? :D

One of the big tragedies happened in a city where I was working and one of the national papers sent a couple reporters in to cover it and in exchange for us letting them file and work from our newsroom, they bought lunch and dinner for everyone for about a week.

The Tribune seems to be doing whatever it can to climb into this story.

It's like covering a manhunt every Friday night in sports, but they don't get sent pizza.

    Yeah, that's strange...

That's why I find this move disingenuous. I appreciate it more because it's a good public relations strategy than because of any sort of camaraderie formed over whatever lunch the Tribune bought the Globe staff.

That said, everyone at the Globe should enjoy that lunch.

Apparently everyone at the Herald can piss off.

Is the Herald still in the league?

I'm sure the Tribune will blame this lunch for the next round of layoffs.

  9. As I posted before, the editor of the Virginia Tech paper during the time of the shootings said in a speech that she got sick of the free pizza after a few days and wished other papers sent something else.

Yeah. They've got uniforms and everything. It's really great.

Wouldn't be a journalist if they weren't complaining about free food. :D

Not true. The Sun-Times sent over a loaf of bread and a jar of Goober Grape.
