Careful, DD will take you to task for those wild assertions.

So Mitt gave his big speech today at an evangelical college that teaches -- I'm not making it up -- in its theology classes that Mormonism is a cult.

Did Mitt owe it to his church to call his hosts out on this? Or, was he simply agreeing with them?

And were his hosts being hypocrites for inviting a cult member to address its graduation class?

The two groups can't have it both ways.

You're missing the fact that "writes for a newspaper," no longer is guaranteed to mean "journalist."

This is awesome how it devolved into a hot mess.

The devil's advocate answer would be that there should be room for various viewpoints on a college campus, no? Barack Obama, despite what YankeeFan might have told you, not only spoke at the University of Chicago, he taught there. And that is the home of right-leaning, free-market economics. He also performed the commencement speech at the University of Notre Dame a few years ago, over the very vocal objection of influential alumni because of the school's aggressively pro-life stance.

Now, I get that it's not a one-to-one comparison. For one thing, economics aren't religion - although they practically are to a lot of people. Plus, the cynic understands that Romney isn't showing up to add his voice into the marketplace of ideas. He's trolling for votes. But I would hope that even at Liberty, not known as a bastion of free thinking, there is at least a little room for dissenting viewpoints.

You forgot Communists. That comes first, followed by liberals and journalists. And since we're Communists, we're no longer qualified to be Americans, according to the party of Nixon and McCarthy.

While it would be nice to hold out that hope, the evidence is to the contrary. Liberty revoked its recognition of the campus Democrats a couple of years ago because the national party "stands against the moral principles held by Liberty."
