    My Grown-up Christmas List

    By SLAPPY 4428
    A Grown-Up Christmas List Maker

FIVE THINGS I WON’T MISS ABOUT TIM TEBOW
    1. His perfect personality.
    2. He plays for Florida.
    3. Scripture verses on his eye black. I’m sorry, but I just don’t care.
    4. Seeing his parents in the stands on TV after every two-yard gain.
    5. The deification of Tim Tebow, the person, by the national media – most of whom have never met him.

FIVE COACHES WHO SHOULD BE ON THEIR WAY OUT
    1. Ralph Friedgen, Maryland
    2. Mark Mangino, Kansas
    3. Al Groh, Virginia
    4. Mike Locksley, New Mexico
    5. Bobby Bowden, Florida State

FIVE MORE WHO NEED TO GO ANYWAY
    1. Dan Hawkins, Colorado
    2. Tim Brewster, Minnesota
    3. Mike Price, UTEP
    4. Tom O’Brien, N.C. State
    5. Mark Snyder, Marshall

FIVE COACHES WHO SHOULD BE ON THEIR WAY OUT AND DON’T KNOW IT
    1. Bob Toledo, Tulane
    2. Bill Cubit, Western Michigan
    3. Steve Fairchild, Colorado State
    4. Paul Wulff, Washington State
    5. Rich Rodriguez, Michigan

FIVE COACHES WHO SAVED THEIR JOB THIS SEASON
    1. Frank Solich, Ohio (Steady decline saved with bowl)
    2. Bill Stewart, West Virginia (Beats Cinci, he should get a contract for life; hadn’t had the second-year flop.)
    3. June Jones, SMU (Yeah, it’s only his second season. But this year bought him another three if he wants.)
    4. Rich Brooks, Kentucky (Another bowl, another season where result exceeded expectations)
    5. Kirk Ferentz, Iowa (So much for underachieving)

FIVE SCHOOLS THAT SHOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER DROPPING FOOTBALL
    1. Eastern Michigan
    2. North Texas
    3. New Mexico State
    4. Tulane
    5. Utah State

FIVE SCHOOLS THAT DON’T DESERVE BOWL BIDS EVEN IF THEY ARE ELIGIBLE
    1. Michigan State (Can you say lack of institutional control)
    2. Iowa State (lost three of last five games, won other two by a touchdown or less)
    3. Texas A&M (Lost three of last four – including a 55-point loss to Oklahoma)
    4. Minnesota (Lost four of last six and beat South Dakota State by three to be bowl eligible)
    5. Mississippi (Yeah, 8 and 4. If it underachieved any more, Omar Minaya could be the AD).

FIVE HEISMAN HOPEFULS, IF I STILL HAD A BALLOT AND COULD VOTE FOR FIVE INSTEAD OF THREE
    1. Colt McCoy, Texas
    2. Toby Gerhart, Stanford
    3. Case Keenum, Houston
    4. Kellen Moore, Boise State

I gotta know: Who moved Boise to No. 1 and why?

  9. Re: 2009 SportsJournalists.com College Football Poll -- Week 13, Nov. 30, 2009, Page 23

I have been voting Boise No. 2 for weeks now, Bama at No. 1, and I felt they have played well enough to be No. 1
I think I had Florida at 3 and TCU 4 followed by Texas and Cincy...
I would have no probelm voting TCU or Texas No. 1 either, but I didn't feel I could justify jumping them.

florida gets 17 votes at no. 1 ... why?

    because they're undefeated?

i'm sorry, but alabama's resume is better.

You know what'll be interesting? There's six undefeated teams ... and everyone else has at least two losses. Except for the Florida-Alabama loser, if someone in that top six lose, they could easily drop behind a two-loss team, even only having one loss themselves.

My criteria for the top spot has always been, if you are the defending champion you are my No. 1 until someone beats you. If the sport won't have a true playoff to decide the best team, then the defending champion deserves to be No. 1 until beaten.
