DREAM's promo video for the Super Hulk tournament, which features José Canseco as one of the participants.

It looks like Jose Canseco's MMA fight might actually, really be happening.

    From Dave Meltzer...

Also, a [piece on Canseco's latest endeavour from the Vancouver Sun's website...

Somewhat surprisingly Kimbo Slice is going to a contestant on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter. It seems like a strange move because if I was Kimbo I'd be going to Japan and cashing in by doing a couple of freak show fights.

What it does is it shows Kimbo is serious about the sport and serious about competing at the top level. I don't think you can question his motives now.

Also, you can't fault the UFC for trying to expose the sport to the young, black demographic. Having Kimbo compete on a show where Rashad Evans and Quentin "Rampage" Jackson are the coaches will only tap into that market even more.

His internet persona has given him a bad rap (deserving or not), and he's actually not nearly the "thug" people make him out to be. Still, his popularity alone could help save a show that's been slowly declining since the second or third season.

Olympic judo gold medallist Satoshi Ishii won't be going to the UFC after all. He's signed with World Victory Road (who promote the Sengoku event) instead. That's probably the most sensible move for him and given his value to the Japanese MMA groups it was probably inevitable.

Japanese MMA needs another big mainstream native star. He has the potential to be it, and he will be paid very well as he tries to fulfil that potential.

I've come to the conclusion I don’t like Dave Begel.

First he writes this dumb column.

    http://onmilwaukee.com/sports/articles/begel060909.html

Then he appears on an ESPN radio show in Milwaukee and further demonstrates his ignorance.

Don't get me wrong I don't have any problem with people who don't like MMA. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. What I dislike are people who do so from a poorly informed and ignorant position, and then in a condescending manner wallow and revel in their ignorance.

Why didn't the MMA spammer post the video of Rampage Jackson sexually assaulting a reporter?

Not a big fan of MMA, but read this column because I'm a little bit familiar with Lesnar and wanted to read Simers' take. I'm not that familiar with Simers, but thought this was a very strange column with no real point.
