Fuck - beat me to it.

After reading the whole letter (thanks, derwood!), I can see where the Rangers do have some standing, considering they twice approached Capitals security staff for assistance.

It still doesn't justify Tortorella's actions but I can see where the frustrations would mount.

And I swear like a trucker, but not in the presence of little ears.

EJ Hradek just reported on NHL Live that Dion Phaneuf will not play tonight.

The security guards screwed the pooch by the sounds of things.

They should have given this douchebag one warning and then tossed him if he kept it up.

Sorry, I'm not a prude but I don't want to hear a stream of obscenities at any event.

Feel the need to yell "motherf***er" at opposition players?

Stay home and yell at your TV.

I tend to agree. There are a lot of ways to be vocal at a game without repeating Carlin's seven words ad nauseum.

Yelling "shoot!" during the power play is a good one.

My throat is raw from yelling that at the Flames.

    OK, that's funny.

The owner of the Goose screams "Shoot the puck!!!!" every time there's a Leafs power play.

Of course, there are six bodies between the guy with the puck and the net so it's usually not a wise decision.

I thought the MSG patrons were going to riot yesterday every time the Rangers went shotless on the PP.

    from the NHL:

TORONTO (April 27, 2009) - Washington Capitals forward Donald
Brashear has been suspended for a total of six games as a result of two
separate incidents -- one prior to and one during Game 6 of the Eastern
Conference Quarter-Final series Sunday against the New York Rangers.

Brashear was suspended one game for initiating contact with Rangers
forward Colton Orr during the pre-game warm-up. Brashear was suspended for
five additional games for a blind-side hit on New York forward Blair Betts
at 9:54 of the first period.

"Brashear delivered a shoulder hit to an unsuspecting player," said
NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell.
"It is also my opinion that the hit was delivered late and targeted the
head of his opponent, causing significant injury."

Brashear's suspension will be served beginning tomorrow night when
the Capitals meet the Rangers in Game Seven of the series. The suspension
will extend through the Capitals' next five 2009 playoff games, the 2009-10
regular season, or both, as circumstances warrant.

    Honestly, that's about right.

The hit was delivered for one reason only -- to get Betts off the ice. It was a dirty play.

The Caps won't sweat not having the goon on the ice, though.
