    At one point back in the 80's or early 90's, you knew that when they had a refrigerator up for bid or in a game, it would be $999. That's why if you ever played the Poker Game, you always went for the fridge because you'd get three 9s right away.

    It's not an iPhone. There are lunatics who memorize the prices of these prizes. Check out this Price is Right fan message board. They even know which particular lunatic tipped the guy off.

    Back in the early '80s my freshman year my dilemma was always:

    8 o'clock lecture hall or sleep in and catch Price is Right in B&W at 10?

    Guess why I got a C that first quarter? Ah freshman independence.
