    Description:
The Observer-Dispatch, a 40,000-circulation daily in Utica, N.Y., is looking for a sports editor to lead a staff of eight reporters and editors.
The successful candidate will be a Web-savvy leader who can help elevate our coverage beyond game stories and into meaningful enterprise and timely features. Experience with multimedia work and live blogging is preferred.

Utica is a great sports town. The O-D’s coverage includes prep athletics and college sports, including major sports at Syracuse University. And Cooperstown is only 35 miles from downtown Utica.

Sounds decent. Anyone with knowledge of this please share. Discuss. :)

Communications Director down in Cooperstown. It came up very suddenly, and was just too good for him to pass up.

I'm hoping a guy I used to work with gets this job, if indeed he applied.

  12. I grew up in the area and can say without hesitation that Utica is one of the biggest shitholes on the planet. This may well be a good gig, but there is nothing good about living or working in Utica.
