Being a sports reporter isn't all fun and games

Haven't you ever driven with your eyes closed? Sheesh.

 

I can tell you far more about driving through the night than I can about Marriott Points.....so can other guys....

 

Oh, boy! I can hardly wait!

 

Fuck. That's five minutes of my life I can't get back.

 

Most people will never know exactly what we do and how our days unfold. My favorite is when people ask me for game tickets, to get them autographs in the locker rooms, if their kid can go to the locker room with me after games, etc. Oh, I also love it when people ask who I wsas cheering for or "voting" for.

But, we don't know about a lot of their jobs, so it's understandable.

 

Remind me not to read Wally's stuff in the future. What a waste of time.

Six weeks away from this board and I see I didn't miss much. Between yet another column talking about how bad sportswriters have it and the women in the sports department thread, argh, gag, puke, sigh.

 

He kind of reinforces the "toy department" label with this "dog days of summer" routine. It was like he was saying "We work extremely hard, go above and beyond, but since summer vacation is here, and I have to write something, here is my thoughts on the business and what I think of the presidential nominees.'

 

The biggest problem I had with this column was this sentence:

 

I stumbled on that paragraph, too. I mean, what self-respecting sports writer doesn't have a chauffeur?
