It takes several days to heal a needle prick?

I'll answer that even though you called me a prick ;D

I'm no doctor but from what I understand after draining the ear they need to give it time for the skin to reconnect with the cartilage, otherwise you have loose skin that can easily tear off and that'd be even more gruesome that a popped hematoma.

Sweet - if a marquee guy is getting chased down in a high-speed pursuit, MMA must finally be a legit big-league sport!

Seriously though, that sucks. You don't want your most charismatic fighter getting mixed up in this kind of shit, especially when Griffin-Jackson II has the potential to be so lucrative.

Interestingly, there has been no mention of alcohol or drugs. TMZ has an interview that an MMA site conducted with Rampage the day before the incident. He seems slightly off kilter.

I do wonder how the felony charges play out as Quinton Jackson already has an assault conviction in California stemming from a junior college incident that his high school wrestling coach, Peter Bolgeo, described to the Memphis Commercial Appeal last December....

For posterity, I would like to note that on July 20 at a few minutes after midnight, ESPN.com had MMA as its top story, just for an hour, but this was the first time ever.

Top story featured Affliction and UFC with top pound-for-pounders Fedor Emelianenko and Anderson Silva both posting dominant wins.

    Holy crap.

Anderson Silva wasted James Irvin 1:01 into the first round.

Caught a kick by Irvin, knocked him out with one punch, and then opened a gash the size of a large vagina under Irvin's right eye when he got onto him on the ground.

Oh, and Irvin had an ad on his ass for condomdepot.com.

Fedor dominates 2 time UFC champ Tim Sylvia in 36 seconds. Baddest man on the planet and its not even close.

Thinking about it, it's sad that the weekend's Affliction show wasn't the one to air on CBS. If it did Fedor would be a superstar and he'd have a ready made opponent in Arlovski who looked very, very good while having a great fight with Ben Rothwell.

Also, USA Today, on their website, have a poll about who Fedor should fight next. Kimbo Slice is winning with 32% of the vote. That fight would be a massacre.

Alexander Emelianenko actually does want to fight Kimbo. He gave an interview a few days ago and mentioned it.
