You should be hard-working and self-motivated, quick-thinking, energetic, efficient, and able to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills are a must, as this position requires interacting with fellow editors, writers and employees throughout Yahoo!

    We're seeking someone who:

    • Writes fresh, compelling headlines that draw readers into the story

    • Makes raw copy shine with crisp editing

    • Has an eye for striking images and can make them sizzle with Photoshop

    • Anticipates users' needs and meets them by creating holistic packages of text, video and images

    • Executes content plans and uses solid news judgment to react on the fly when news breaks. Ability to judge relative merit of content based on our users' needs is key.

    • Enjoys innovating and is comfortable blending original, aggregated and user-generated material to create a compelling site that engages users and encourages repeat visits

    • Works with writers and other editors to ensure content quality

    • Has a positive attitude, professional demeanor and the flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment

    • Gets a rush from news

    Requirements:

    • B.A. required; journalism or communications concentration a plus

    • Five years experience as an editor

    • Passion for online news and sports experience strongly preferred

    • Strong online editing and packaging skills

    • Proven editorial judgment

    • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

    • Strong knowledge of web applications and publishing technologies such as HTML, Photoshop, media players, et al.

    • Well-versed in AP style

This job will be based in Santa Monica, Calif., and may require extended hours during peak news times. Interested applicants should send a cover letter and resume to sports-jobs@yahoo-inc.com, with "Yahoo! Sports coverage editor" in the subject line.

Sounds more like a worker-bee job than an oversight position, making Greg a wee bit overqualified.
