And to think that just a few years ago, Tribune Co was the chain where everybody wanted to work...

 

And to think, this used to be an industry.
Now it's an investment.

 

12 years ago, I received 21 percent of my base as my year-end company stock disbursement.

Now, I'll be lucky to get 2.

Hell, I'll be lucky to have a job and get zero.

 

Funny you mention that. About an hour ago on CNBC (I think) there was an investment segement devoted to how investors could make money off the death of newspapers.

We are nothing more than carrion for these vile vultures to feast on.

 

Interesting. How can we make money off the death of industry so we don't end up working at Whattaburger?

What, they don't want to parade gawkers through the newsroom to see the carnage? Or are they afraid old crazy Sammy Z. might be visiting town and pop out from around a corner, his shirt half unbuttoned, smacking his lips over all the p---y ads while telling some photographer to f--- herself?

My thoughts on all this:

That is some list. Just an incredible exodus of talent, skill and good people. I am truly, truly saddened. Stunned even, even though I knew it was coming.

 

I see Robyn Norwood on the list.
Not happy about that. I'm a huge fan.
As a person. As a journalist. Hope she has something ready to go.

 

These things always leave me with mixed emotions.

There were a few names I feared seeing on there. Most weren't. One was.

Just sucks.

Though to be fair . . .I'm sure they get a better buyout than the one Singleton people are getting. Maybe not by much . . . .
