For those of us who don't have access to The Big 10 Network, what's Carr saying?

When your coaching philosophy is based on the sludge-ball concepts of "burn the clock, don't take risks, and maybe you'll have a chance to win in the final minutes," talent advantages are nullified.

Michigan had a chance to win in the final minute, so the strategy was highly successful.

  3. A bit of it was on Espn news. Didn't say very much. Surprised Hart played in the second half ... defense didn't execute ... App. had very good speed at skill positions ...

No one asked if this was the death of his coaching career in Michigan.

Did he look like he wanted to commit sepiku (however you spell that)?

  6. His explanation on the blocked field goal was interesting: They were using defensive players on special teams. Defense was meeting on the other end of the field to discuss a penalty, so one of the young players missed the field goal alert and didn't get on the field, causing the missed assignment.

“In our case, our schedule is about to get tougher. We’ll see how we respond.” -- Lloyd Carr

Seeing the Wolverines have Oregon, Notre Dame and Penn State at home for its next three games, Michigan could be 2-2 or even 1-3 before it ever hits the road.

Did they have any timeouts left?

Of those 3....who do they beat.....Oregon...MAYBE

Notre Dame and Penn State could easily beat UM.

  10. I don't know. Hard to tell from the ESPN2 coverage ... they kinda glossed over it. Has a story hit AP yet?

The only downside to this is it sets up a decade of:

"Coach Saban/Paterno/Tressel/Richt, how does having (name a Div. I-AA) team on your schedule help your team, your school or your fans at all?

"Well, look at what happened to Michigan against Appalachian State ..."

    Justification in a bottle.

Not the way ND's been playing against GT.
I'd say Oregon and PSU have the best chance.
