The Clarion-Ledger has 2 openings on its communities desk for page designers. You work days and help design three tri-weeklys that serve surrounding counties of Jackson. This is not a sports position, per se, but... there's a chance the right candidate would work a night or two on the Clarion-Ledger sports copy desk, with the opportunity to move to sports if a position opens. This would be a good job for someone right out of college, looking to get their foot in the door at a 95,000-circulation daily. The communities designers work in the main shop in Jackson. e-mail me if you have questions: rhampton@clarionledger.com

  2. Nothing but great things to say about the Clarion-Ledger. I went for an interview (it didn't work out) but everyone there is great and it's a very well run newspaper. There are plenty of opportunities at the Clarion-Ledger for a harding working desker.

Loved working in the same state as Rusty for a year and half. Loved picking up the C-L each morning and seeing no signs of complacency across the board.
Not too much to compete with on that level there among the magnolias, yet that doesn't stop Rusty and the gang from knocking it out of the park with the Big 3 -- Ole Miss, State, USM -- the wickedy, wickedy SWACs, small colleges and preps. Now, you throw in a Double-A affiliate and the Saints camping in their backyard, and it continues to be a product that is ever-changing and growing in quality.
