Izzard, Cross and Oswalt should all be on the list.

I voted for Black, but I love me some Chris Rock, too.

I liked Dane Cook the first time I heard him...when he was called Louis CK. Unfunny hack.

In an effort to offer someone different:

    I really like Kathy Griffin.
Here Bravo show, "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" is fantastic.
Her comedy is current and fresh.

  5. I'll definitely stand alone on this, but I'll always be a Richard Pryor guy to the heart.

I consider that show to be my #1 guilty pleasure right now. You start out not wanting to like her, but I'm actually to the point where I think she'd be a hoot to know personally.

I really think she won me over on the episode where her dad died. She didn't back down from the show; she let it be maudlin and heart-breaking because that's what she was feeling. I respected that tremendously.

    man is that ever true.

Even at the minor league levels. Ugh. What a bunch of assholes.

  8. Jim Norton, Louis CK and Chris Rock really need to be on this list.

A few years ago I was at a bachelor party in Vegas. As a goof we got tickets to see Dice Clay perform since we had all seen him when we were in HS back in the early 1990s when he was the most popular comic around...

Jim Norton opened the show and was about 1,000X funnier than Dice, who was better than you'd think...

Norton is way too dirty to hit the big time which is really unfortunate...

Patton Oswalt is fantastic. Eugene Mirman is a favorite, too. Aniz Ansari is pretty funny.

For anyone out in LA, stop by Upright Citizens Brigade on just about any night of the week and laugh your ass off. They always get a random alumni who is great.

Oh, I'm with you there, as are most on the board, I'm sure. It's just that contemporary comedians were the one's being mentioned and we're all going with that flow.

Pryor as a great standup comic is just one of those things that goes without saying, like Vin Scully being one of the best baseball announcers and Frank Sinatra as one of the best singers ever.
