Scooter (Hobbs, that is, not Sunshine) is terrific people.
Let me bum one or two Dorals back in the day. That qualifies.

Yeah, but did he bail you out in Salt Lake City when it absolutely, positively had to be there sooner than overnight?

    (Threadjack over.)

Anyone interested in the job, PM me with any questions about the paper or the city. I'm acquainted.

had to stay in lake charles once. Not sure I remember much more than a casino being there. Wat's the cost of living like here? And what's the major sport?

Lucinda Williams referenced it in a song on "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road." Said nothing about the sports section, though.

Lake Charles isn't a bad town, or at least it wasn't 15 years ago when I made pass through for a McNeese State football game*.
I heard that Lake Charles took some major damage in the last round of hurricanes, but I don't how they've recovered.

    * It isn't quite Bubbler lore, but that was the game where I tried to call their black quarterback, who was also an All-American javelin thrower, a, wait for it, "spear-chucker" in a preview article for my college paper. It was me trying to be clever when I didn't realize how offensive it was.
It is one of several things that the newspaper adviser, with whom I'm still close, talks about when we get together.

The quarterback was Kerry Joseph, who is now in the CFL. Powerful arm. He did some amazing things in college.

This place gets the thumbs up award from boots. You could do a lot worse going either way on Interstate 10.
