Morris Braves Beat Writer

    From what I hear, they're in a hurry to fill.

    DESCRIPTION OF JOB: Covers the Atlanta Braves from spring training through the post season, including feature stories and additional assignments from the bureau chief and editors at Morris Publishing papers.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION: College degree with emphasis on journalism.

    EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING: Must have at least five years covering sports, two on the professional level.

    MANUAL OR MOTOR OPERATIONS: Must have working knowledge of computers and layout, a drivers license and car.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be willing to live in Atlanta and travel to sporting events.

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Cover Braves from spring training through regular season and post-season play, including game stories, notebooks, news stories and features.
    2. Report on off-season news and developments.
    3. Be available for assignments covering other sports.
    4. Be able to layout some pages, when required.

    Apparently he's going to be the Gamecocks beat writer for the Charleston Post and Courier.

    A job covering the Braves that also entails some layout?! Sounds like an odd combination; I assume that would be filling in on the desk during the offseason (if there truly is one in any pro sport)?

    Where exactly would this person lay out? Augusta one night, Athens the next? That doesn't make much sense.

    Also, don't expect this one to pay too much, boys and girls.

    You'd have to live in Atlanta and the layout isn't spread out.

    Maybe the beating he took from the Morris Braves was so severe that he couldn't go on.
