    Beloved teams that fell short

2003 Cubs - Forget Steve Bartman; if Alex Gonzales turns a routine double play, the Cubs get out of that infamous 8th inning up 3-1 and get to the World Series. Instead, I have to watch the friggin' White Sox get it done two years later. The 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008 Philadelphia Eagles.

A-Rod suspended for rest of season & all of 2014, appeals

Re: Lifetime ban for A-Rod coming? I think they're dragging out the announcement more to get as many "plea bargains" (or whatever the appropriate term is for agreements like Ryan Braun's) locked down beforehand as possible. Ideally they get everyone to agree to X suspension before going...

Sacramento Kings moving franchise to the OC, CA.

Size of the fanbase is only one factor in a pro sports franchise's profitability. The value of the local television and radio contracts, luxury box revenue, club seat revenue, sponsorships and advertising are also factors. The Winnipeg Jets had a far larger and more rabid fanbase in Winnipeg...

A very well played final, though the officiating was erratic. Luke Hancock saved the game for Louisville with his threes late in the first half. Completely turned the game around. Louisville was the better team, but it also had the better tactician on the sidelines. That makes no small...

Good adjustments by Pitino once again after Louisville fell behind. And John Beilien should have put Trey Burke back in the game sooner. Albrecht played out of his mind for a while there, but that wasn't going to last, and Albrecht is the friggin national player of the year.

    Guess Nantz's stupid/cheesy/rehearsed/contrived line from tonight's game

Would Jim Nantz really be stupid enough to reference broken legs or bones in his line if Louisville wins? Wouldn't that be very bad taste?

What is Next for the NCAA?

And this means that the next NCAA head will likewise be hired and retained (or fired) on the same metric - how much money he makes for the NCAA's member universities. Let's not pretend that anything else matters to them.

Fortunately for Syracuse, Michigan turned into the 2008 Memphis Tigers at the foul line in the last two minutes, giving it multiple chances. Still couldn't take advantage though.

For half the game, yes. But Michigan looked like it couldn't wait to get out of there in the second half, and especially in the last 5 minutes.

    North Korea declares war?

Either Kim Jong Un (?) thinks the rest of the world won't have the stomach to retaliate with nukes (and thereby kill millions of innocent people) or he believes this is his way to martyrdom.

I think fouling when up 3 in the last few seconds makes sense .... as long as you're decent at shooting free throws AND you're not outmatched on the boards. If you are having trouble keeping this particular opponent off the offensive boards, forcing them to shoot a three may be a better play...

If Roy Williams never was in danger of losing his job despite all his ghastly NCAA tourney losses at Kansas and not winning a championship, why would Bill Self be on anything remotely approaching the hot seat when he's at least won a title?

Boy, did Illinois get hosed on that out of bounds call.
