Sports Editor for The Rochester Sentinel
After being away from the hoosier state for a year, I decided to come back and pursue high school sports in the state that I have always been in.
I accepted the Sports Editor position in October and began working in Rochester on Oct. 19, 2020. Being back in Indiana allows me to be closer to my hobbies, family and friends.
At the Rochester Sentinel, I primarily cover high school sports and occasionally I help with the news side of the newspaper. There are only three of us in the office and it's just quiet and I'm not continuously yelled at by my boss. I'm also not in charge of laying out the Sports pages because someone else does it now.
My first job in the business was on Aug. 26, 2019 as the Sports Reporter at The Natchez Democrat. I liked the position from the start and wrote numerous stories about both high school sports and non-sports stories. My most favorite stories that I have written at The Natchez Democrat was about a local high school in our coverage area winning the Louisiana High School Athletics Association Class 2A state championship.

Also, as a Sports Reporter, I was in charge of the page layout for the two Sports pages. I was also the Tracings expert, where we put events that were happening in the area.

In my spare time nowadays, I enjoy playing competitive pool in the American Poolplayers Association in Logansport on Mondays and in Marion on Sundays (about an hour drive from Logansport), reading the latest stories from across the nation via the AP Wire and playing video games on the Playstation 4.

In the past, I had enjoyed an internship with The Shelbyville News in Shelbyville, Indiana. With this internship. I had begun to craft my work by working on various stories and taking various photos. The Sports Editor, Kristopher Mills, is very pleased with me and the internship. With TSN, I wrote sports features ranging from girls gymnastics to midget car racing. What I enjoyed about the internship was that I could cover a wide variety of sports, without feeling obligated to just a few sports.

In college, I worked for The Ball State Daily News in Muncie, Indiana. I went to school at Ball State University and graduated in May 2019. With the Daily News, I covered the women's and men's swim and dive, men's and women's tennis and numerous photos of each. With the Daily News, I received coaching from numerous Sports Editors. I enjoyed the Daily News by covering sports that weren't mainstream sports. But sports that people can enjoy as well.
