A sports copy editor position is open at the Grand Forks Herald. Paper's circ is about 20,000. The major sport up here is U of North Dakota hockey (Jonathan Toews, Zach Parise, T.J. Oshie, etc. went here). It draws about 11,500 per game. UND is Division I in all sports and plays in the Big Sky Conference (FCS football). We cover the college closely. Prep sports also are an emphasis.

The sports staff is four full-time writers, two full-time designers. The five currently at the Herald have all been here for 10 years. Our news staff has quite a few recent college grads. It's a solid mix. We want to be a paper that is among the best under 30Ks in the country - we have won five straight APSEs for special sections. We were honorable mention for daily this year and have previously won top 10s for both daily and Sunday.

Send me a PM on here or let me know if you have any questions. Here's the posting:

If you're lucky, you might even get an occasional taste of curling. Not too many places in the US can offer that.
