    Company: The Martha's Vineyard Times
    Position:
    Cover Sports on Martha's Vineyard
    Location:
    Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts
    Job Status: Part-time
    Salary: Negotiable
    Job ID: 1585144
    Website: http://mvtimes.com

    Description:

    Sports editor
The Martha’s Vineyard Times has an immediate opening for a part time sports reporter who can cover a wide range of sporting activities across the Island, including little league, soccer, basketball, tennis, equestrian events and more. The ideal candidate will be able to write one or two main stories, speedily provide short score recaps, process material submitted by coaches and work with photographers and production.
Journalism experience is preferred. The ability to take good sports photos and use social media to post scores is a plus.
The Times is a 15,000-plus circulation, independent, award winning weekly newspaper with a large, vibrant website (mvtimes.com). The paper serves a unique island environment about 45 minutes by ferry from Woods Hole on the Massachusetts mainland. The focus is on issues that are important to the year-round and seasonal residents.
The Times offers a pleasant working atmosphere. Martha's Vineyard is a great place to work, but housing is expensive and the cost of living is high. This position comes with no benefits.
If interested, please email a cover letter, resume and a link to an online portfolio to Editor Nelson Sigelman at nelson@mvtimes.com.

As a perk, you get to cover amateur hockey with former conjoined twins playing goalie.

At least they're honest about the housing issue. Also, given the league the Vineyard now plays in, it involves A LOT of travel for a Massachusetts school.
