    Description:

    The West Fargo Pioneer is looking for a sports/news reporter to help cover North Dakota’s fastest-growing city on the Red River.

    The Pioneer is a weekly newspaper that covers community, schools and sports news in West Fargo. The Pioneer is an independent, subscriber-based newspaper that works in tandem with The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, North Dakota and western Minnesota’s largest daily newspaper.

    Our ideal candidate will be a resourceful and energetic self-starter who can find the colorful back story in any assignment. We are seeking someone with exceptional organizational and story-telling skills who can balance writing in-depth feature stories on a weekly basis as well as contributing game or breaking stories on a daily deadline, when needed. The position will be a unique opportunity to see your work published in not just one but two of this region’s highest -regarded newspapers.

    As part of Forum Communications Company, we are family owned, financially stable and in a growing and dynamic market with strong K-12 schools, large and small universities and many cultural, recreational and entertainment options.

    A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience in journalism is required. At least one year of experience in a professional newsroom is preferred, but May college graduates with strong experience will be considered. Applicants must be able to work occasional nights, weekends and holidays, and have
    a valid driver’s license with a record insurable by the company.
