I don't much care for that language.

Yes 2,750 hits, a .319 career average, an MVP, a ROY, 10 Gold Gloves, 10 All-Star Game appearances, an ASG MVP award and a career .346 postseason average make him a marginal at best HOFer.

No doubt. Well, maybe a LITTLE doubt about the numbers, but he is a lock.

Gil Hodges should have been in decades ago.

Hodges never led an 8-team league in anything, not even RBIs despite hitting in the middle one of the greatest offensive teams of all-time. He also never finished higher than 7th in the MVP balloting.

He was essentially the Tino Martinez of his era.

    That's a Hall of Famer?

If Pee Wee Reese is in Cooperstown, then so should be Hodges.

I also include on his resume manager of an iconic team.

He was a major contributor to two iconic teams.

Was just going to say that about his managing the Miracles. Puts him over the edge for me.

Hodges had a losing record as a manager.

    Hodges. Hodges?!
    Fuck Hodges, man!
Where does Hodges come from anyway, huh?

I'm just bracing for the eventual OPS arguments.

The last two seasons, Miguel Cabrera led the A.L. in OPS. Stat heads supported Mike Trout for MVP both years. Traditionalists, including you, pitched a tantrum over it.

And yet now, your worry is that ... stat heads won't support Ichiro? Because of OPS?
