Because this entire administration is guided by two words:

    "Get Whitey"

Gosh, Bubbs, don't you know thousands of kids are coming out of college every year who'd love to be a rancher on the hardscrabble desert of Nevada. I mean, you don't see the number of family farms and ranches declining ANYWHERE but Nevada - so it must be a conspiracy!

Not at all. It's a legitimate question.

Folks were encouraged to move out west, and were always able to graze their cattle on government land. That was part of the deal.

The BLM is supposed to manage these lands, and upkeep them. And, part of the public use of these lands is as grazing land for ranchers.

(And, yes, people keep saying, "it's not his land. If he wants land to graze cattle on, he should buy more land." Well, two things. the Feds own something like 90% of Nevada. It's not that simple. But also, when easements are in place, they don't just go away because someone changes their mind, or property changes hand. If you own waterfront property, you may have to provide an easement to allow others to access the water. In horse country, trails traverse private property, and you have to let people use the trails that cross you property. My building has to let the building next door traverse our parking to reach their building.

If these ranching families were promised access to this land, then I don't think it should be restricted, or managed in a way that effectively restricts them from it.)

Clearly there aren't a lot of folks interested/willing to do this. There weren't a lot of people interested to do it 100 years ago either, when Bundy's ancestors moved out there.

Part of the incentives to get people to settle these lands was access to public land.

And, while I don't expect a lot of new ranches to spring up, the accusation I've heard is that the BLM's policies have shut down the "dozens" of other ranches in the area. Is that true? I'd like to know. Are you not interested in the answer to this question?

    Wow. I just read that...

So yes, let us all now support Comrade Bundy and the Sovereign Socialistic State of Nevada....

(or rather, since we're English first here.... The Sovereign Socialistic State of Snow-Covered....)

You have to agree with Bundy's political views to question the BLM's handling of the issue, and of this case?

    Is that how this works?

Should people follow the rules set by the Federal Government on Federal land?

    Yes or no?

If you allow this, will you allow them to start bringing handguns into Federal Buildings in Arizona? It was allowed once.
