And, in a surprising development, the Giants won.

No, you are losing a debate with me. As usual. But thank you for confirming my point.

After the next drug report, the encephalographs for the sensitive fuckheads (you) and the most clear-headed of analysts (Fart) will converge, superimpose and become indistinguishable.
You really do seem to think baseball's drug problem is done, don't you?
Just like that, with a few waves of Buddy's magic wand?

Mariano Rivera closed out his career with six consecutive seasons of 2.16 or under.

Eck went way under that too, as did Quisenberry. Probably others.

Think 3OF is trolling again here.

Am not trolling. I don't do that on the NFL and baseball threads.
I believe there is an innings qualifier for that stat.
    Obviously fucking closers wouldn't count.

So it's a stat about relievers that doesn't count closers.

    Strong stat. Good knowledge.

Actually, Quisenberry was throwing about 130 innings a year during his peak (save for the 1981 strike year).

You prove how dated yours is on this thread regularly.
You must have been weaned from the distended teat of Murray Chass.

Good one! Now could you tell the world what your stat meant? In addition to Quisenberry, Sutter pitched way more innings than Clippard too.

Beg pardon- it's appearances coupled with pitching to a 2.60 ERA.

Take it up with Paul White, asshole.

While technically true, it's essentially a meaningless stat due to how relief pitcher usage patterns have changed over the years. It's a lot easier for Clippard to post a 2.59 ERA pitching one inning at a time (going all out for 15-20 pitches) than it was for Quisenberry to do it throwing 2-3 innings a pop (where he might have to face the full lineup and some guys more than once).

This reminds of when it is reported that Jim Thome has more postseason home runs than Mickey Mantle. Yeah, but when Mantle played there was only one round of playoffs, not three.
