Carlos Gomez once again shows that he is a very gifted player, but also a complete jackass.

Flipped his bat and stood watching a drive he hit off Gerrit Cole. One small problem. It didn't go out. Gomez still manages to make it to third base, though with his speed, he had a shot at an inside-the-park home run if he doesn't stop to watch it. Cole says something to Gomez, who then flips out, struggles from the umpire's grasp and goes after Cole with his helmet in hand. The helmet was gone before Gomez even threw a punch, but it sure seems like a suspension is coming.

Halos managed to give up a run in the first inning thanks to 3 Es on 1 play...and the play? It was a walk.

    SuperManagerMike must be proud.

Ah, baseball. A sport in which a nondescript pitcher with all of 20 major-league decisions walks over to third to start woofing at a hitter because his pride was hurt.

Yep, Gomez posed and stared at the ball as it flew toward the wall.

Big deal. So strike his ass out next time.

Is it too late to equip Cole with a pacifier?

Cole isn't the one who lost his temper. He just ran his mouth (though I agree it was childish). Then again, he hasn't even played a full season in the majors yet. Gomez is a veteran and he is the one who lost his temper just because the opposing pitcher said something to him. (Though perhaps we should reserve some judgement until we hear what Cole said.)

Not sure I'd call Cole nondescript. He was a big-time prospect and he has been pretty damn good since coming up.

All on Gomez. Cole didn't even get pitched.

I did hear what Cole said. F-bombs were involved. Heard it live and you can find the video on MBL.com.

Gomez has a short fuse and got what he deserved.

Cole needs to shut up and pitch.

Sounded like Cole told him to run to the fucking base. I was wondering if he said something worse.

Cole certainly didn't help matters, but it didn't sound like he said anything worthy of the reaction from Gomez.

And like oop said, let's not hang the "nondescript" label on Gerrit Cole. He's one of the next big pitchers in the game.

Gerrit Cole was the #1 overall pick of the 2011 draft. For that reason alone, he has never been and never will be nondescript.

Let's talk about the really interesting part of that Brewers-Pirates game. For the second straight day, Ryan Braun homers in the ninth off Jason Grilli. Today's tied it, and the Brewers won in 14. Saturday's was a two-run shot that turned a 7-6 deficit into an 8-7 victory.

Braun has six homers this season -- all in the state of Pennsylvania.
