Death of a Racehorse: the results

    Sorry, but I've always wanted to know the other information about the race. After much searching on the Web and some phone calls I was directed to the library at Keeneland. They have pretty much every race result dating back to forever. I called last week. They called back today.

    The facts:

    Our Patrice won the race and paid $11.70, $5.30 and $4.20
    Monte placed and paid $4.30 and $.360
    Thermilles showed and paid $4.80

    Asked one of the librarians, Betsy, if she noticed any other unique information. She said Air Lift was overweight by 2 pounds.

    Lastly, Our Patrice started 29 races (3 wins, 6 place, 6 show) and won $15,712.

    I wonder who the poor sap was on the desk at The Sun the next day who had to take the angry call from Our Patrice's mother.

    Fixed for accuracy.

    And Trumpet King's mudder complained that he deserved to get coverage too, since he finished ahead of Air Lift.

    About the story in the subject line ...

    Sure, it's a good piece of writing, but my sources tell me Heinz did no tweeting that day, refused to shoot any video, blew a perfect shot for a great Vine, didn't turn in an audible podcast and forgot to go back to the office to help with call-ins and roundups.

    Of course he had time to write a decent story!
