    Sports Designer/Multimedia person, The Monitor (McAllen, Texas)

    The Monitor, a 41,000-circulation newspaper located in McAllen, Texas, is looking for a sports designer/multimedia person to join our staff. The Monitor sports staff covers beats ranging from high school football, minor league hockey, NBA Development League, the University of Texas-Pan American and other sports. High school sports are prominent in our section and drive RGVSports.com.

    Tasks include serving as a primary designer/copy editor for our print sports section, using InDesign, and posting stories and photographs, shooting videos, engaging in social media and producing graphics. We want someone willing to learn new skills as new technologies evolve and who will drive engagement, amplify coverage, and leverages various social/digital properties.

    Aside from serving as lead designer, this person will be in charge of the social media updates on football Friday nights, making sure the Twitter widget is set up on RGVSports.com, and updating throughout the night. They will also be responsible for managing and creating online content, including blogs.
