More movies I thought were cool when I was 14 ... HBO used to show a movie about the Italian-Libyan conflict between the wars. I think it was called Lion Of The Desert. Anthony Quinn was in it. Loved it back then. Haven't seen it since.

  2. Is that the one where Peppard dies at the end in a plane crash? On a test flight or something?

    Yes.

Interesting to me how poorly 'Platoon' has aged. As is the case with almost all of Stone's work.

Anyone remember 'The Boys in Company C'?

No spoiler alert here, OR? ;)

Yes. I'll leave the particulars out, but yes.

Since about 99 percent of those guys died, it's not too awful surprising.

I don't like doing this, but I am digging up this old thread because I searched sj for Black Hawk Down references. Great thread. Some titles here that I need to go back and watch.

It's been four years - any comments on any new war movies that have come out since 2012?

I'm having trouble thinking of anything, but I am half asleep at the moment and should put this fucking smartphone down.

Not a movie, but Generation Kill from HBO was solid.
