News opening - Bureau chief in Richmond, Va.
« on: January 05, 2012, 06:47:15 AM »
A friend of mine is involved in the hiring process for this job, so if anyone's interested, PM me and I'll send more details.

Energetic, experienced journalist sought to run Richmond, Virginia, statehouse bureau for a journalism non-profit.

The ideal bureau chief will be knowledgeable about Virginia politics, work independently and have a proven capacity to lead others.

Meeting stenographers and clock watchers need not apply. We want someone who will break new ground in statehouse coverage and will shun “pack journalism.”

If you entered journalism to “make a difference” this may well be the job for you.

We are unapologetic and uncompromising in our mission:  Our journalists write their stories from the perspective of taxpayers.

We are not only committed to uncovering waste, fraud and abuse but to being the agenda setters in Richmond.

Virginia Statehouse News stories appear online and in newspapers across the state. We are expanding to provide daily multi-media content that will be published online as well as shared with Virginia broadcasters.

The ideal candidates should have a broad knowledge of Virginia politics, have substantial experience in either print or broadcast journalism and live for the next scoop.

In addition to reporting, the bureau chief will supervise one reporter.

A bachelor’s degree in journalism, political science or a related field is preferred.

Candidates must be willing to reside in Richmond area.

Virginia Statehouse News is a part of the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, a leader in non-profit journalism.

Please send resumes and work samples to [email protected].
