Why would you deep fry fruit? Isn't that counterproductive?

(Then again, why would you deep fry a pickle ...)

Fried okra...my son thought those were lizard balls the first time he saw them, cut one open, and saw all the slimy shit come out.

How about fried chitlins?

It's the Minnesota State Fair. Everything MUST be deep fried or on a stick, preferably both.

And spnited, you mean mini donuts?

Mmmmmmmm... mini donuts.

And the pickle-cream cheese-ham thing on a stick is fucking righteous.

Oh, I forgot, Scotch Eggs (on a stick)

Fried twinkies were repulsive.

Fried okra - my son thought they were lizard balls and threw up when he cut into one and the slimy stuff came out.

How about fried chitlins?  Cooked right are they anything but fried rubber?

Out here they're mini donuts, spnited. I knew what you were talking about.

Thing I want to try from the MN state fair but have not: The Uffda Brat.

Norweigan sausage wrapped in lefse and (you guessed it) on a stick.

Didn't know Sonic had fried pickles.

The only place I've had them is as an appetizer at a sit-down restaurant.

I've had them at two places, one place was a brewpub in a resort town, the other place was at Hooters.

It's not something I would have everyday, but at least once a month, they are very good.

Hmmm, I'm down South yet I've never run into deep fried Oreos ... I thought the South was king of that kind of stuff.

Tastes like chicken. Seriously, I've had it, too -- and it's good eatin'.

I've also had it... it's a little chewy and doesn't really have a distinctive taste in my opinion.

Chewy chicken, a little bit of a different aftertaste. There's a place near my house that does half-price po'boys on Mondays. When I go, I usually get the blackened crawfish one. Now that's good damned eatin'.

Rocky Mountain Oysters.

And they weren't bad. They weren't, you know, good, but they weren't bad.

If I was drunk and hungry...

I like calf fries with ketchup.

Place down the street from my old shop had a deal called the Okie Surf-n-Turf. Calf fries and frog legs.

The (thinly-sliced) fried pickles at Rick's on the Bricks in Fort Worth rawk.  With a side of ranch, but I usually opt for drowning them in Tabasco.  Excellent partner to a cold draft Shiner.

Also, for a whole different fried food experience, don't forget your local sushi house.

Tempura asparagus is fantastic.
