The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has an opportunity for a news page designer to join its Universal Copy Desk. The successful applicant will have the design skills to create section fronts and inside pages that are elegant, active and interesting. The ability to work in a collegial environment is a key. Our designers must recognize and advocate for excellent photography, generate ideas for graphic elements and alternative story forms and collaborate with writers and editors in the planning and presentation process. This is a position for a visual journalist who is interested in international, national and local events and can bring those interests to life in our pages. Applicants with strong language skills and the ability to suggest vibrant headlines, write accurate and salient captions will be preferred.

Our Universal Desk produces pages for the newspaper’s front and local news sections, business and sports sections, zoned editions and a digital edition. We have won numerous awards for design, presentation and the use of photography, and are working to continue that tradition.

About the City and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: we're a family-owned daily newspaper and website serving a diverse readership extending from the city of Pittsburgh’s urban core to its surrounding suburbs, counties and nearby states. Interested applicants should email resume, portfolio and links to any multimedia content to tmartin@post-gazette.com or mail materials to Tim Martin, senior assistant managing editor, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 34 Boulevard of the Allies, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
