True. If they do lose, they're going to drop like a rock though. Undefeated is all that's holding them up.

Somewhere in Louisiana, Ed Orgeron's grinning. He got fired for a turd similar to the one Sark laid tonight.

Eh, it was fun while it lasted. The second half was just brutal.

Is the Kessler For Heisman campaign still running? :)

    In full swing!

Few things about that abortion of a game:

° he threw a beautifully thrown pass between defenders that a receiver dropped in the end zone early in the game

° he threw another TD on the next drive (I think) but Mora had called a phantom timeout just as the play starts (uh-huh, sure, Jimmy) so it's nullified

° the drive ended when some shithead of an OC called for a dive on 4th and 2 at the 4, and UCLA stuffed it

° Algohor seemed like he was on crack

° the defense was simply overworked; you're seeing how a reduction in scholarships kills a powerhouse like USC in the 2nd half against deep teams

° UCLA is the better program right now

° The Cody Kessler Heisman Hype Machine™ has closed down for the season.

It's really funny that UCLA used a quasi-student body left to score the back-breaking TD to start the 3rd quarter.

I fell asleep at 38-14. Didn't miss anything after that.

Have fun in El Paso, USC.

Alabama beats auburn. Stays at no. 1. Oregon wins out. Stays at no. 2.

Mississippi State beats Ole Miss and climbs to no. 3. Florida State keeps winning but just scraping by. TCU also keeps winning. TCU passes eye test and rewarded for doing things the right way, whatever that is and edges FSU on points to slide into the fourth and final spot.

If the committee does not put the only undefeated top five conference game into the playoff because of the "eye test" it will exist for only this year.

Oregon has a loss at home. IMO that trumps every flaw exhibited by every Top 4 team and the ones still legitimately hoping to get in.

That's a blot on the old escutcheon, no doubt about it. But I would rank a head to head loss with a co-conference champ, if that's how TCU and Baylor shake out, as a bigger disqualification.

Yeah, probably. Just saying I can easily find four quality playoff candidates who don't have the "but you lost at home" stain. And this team, with this wart, is sitting at No. 2, of all places.

As was already pointed out, an unbeaten Power 5 conference champion isn't getting left out.

And when the regular season ends, if they're both 11-1, Baylor will pass TCU due to the fact they won the Big 12 championship game on October 11.

Saw a note last night that said Baylor has beaten two currently ranked teams - OU and TCU. That's one more than Mississippi State and Alabama have beaten and two more than FSU has played. And they still have ranked K-State to play.

    And they lost to a currently unranked team. There's always a "But . . . " involved.

As for Alabama and Mississippi State, one will face ranked teams the next two weeks, and the other will face at least one ranked team (and likely a second one). So that will take care of itself, one way or another.

And remember, "ranked" is just an arbitrary cutoff at 25. When today's poll is released LSU, Arkansas and Texas A&M will all be floating around the top 30. Not elite teams, mind you, but "close enough" to the Oklahomas (23) that Baylor fans are using to build their case.
