“Well, birthdays are merely symbolic of how another year’s gone by and how little we’ve grown. No matter how desperate we are that someday a better self will emerge, with each flicker of the candles on the cake we know it’s not to be. That for the rest of our sad, wretched, pathetic lives, this is who we are to the bitter end – inevitably, irrevocably. Happy birthday? No such thing.”

I'm sitting here, alone, staring at the wall, and eff all of you. I'm having a great time.

Maybe the better question is, why don't you? I'm sure more people celebrate their birthdays than don't.

  8. You guys know trick or treat is NOT always on Oct. 31, right?

Here it was Oct. 30. The same was true with most of the region, because no one wanted to tangle with Friday night football.
My new job ... I'm guy who sets the date for Trick or Treat (I'm the Decider!!!), and it was either Thursday or Saturday.
Halloween isn't the same as Trick or Treat. It is fluid.

Yeah, the anger about people celebrating a birthday seems a tad, umm, overboard. Yeesh. Guess Dick's family never bought him a Carvel ice cream cake. I could give a shit less about my birthday, and often work, but I did go on a casino cruise for my 40th. No parties, but I'll surely attend others'. But I ain't bringing a gift unless you're a very close friend or are under the age of 12 and related to me (or to a very close friend).

In our area of SoCal, many of the HS football games were played last night so police officers who patrol the stadium could be free to chase Halloween pranksters tonight.
