The shooter killed one and injured at least four others before killing himself.

It's another great day for the NRA. Cue the rhetoric about the necessity of firearms in society.

Cue the rhetoric about the necessity to take firearms away from those who don't commit crime.

A totally not racist facebook rant from John T Reed (the guy who proposed the head tax)

"The media are ecstatic. “Home-grown” terror. “Self-radicalized.” “Lone Wolf.” Their prayers have been answered. If it bleeds, it leads. Hatchet. Canada. Muslim.
    .
In other news, a native-American shot up his high school lunch table then himself. Fox New refuses to name him. Really!? Well, a step forward finally in understanding that terrorism is a publicity stunt and that giving the stunt man publicity encourages the next one.
    .
Will there be calls for new gun laws? No. You’re not paying attention. He was native-American—one of THEIR people. The liberals only call for gun control after a WHITE kid shoots school kids. When the perp is a black sniper, Muslim, Native American, we need to look at the “root causes.” It’s only an occasions for gun control when a white boy does it.
    .
By the way, don’t they have gun control in Canada?
    .
To a large extent, I think these perps are participating in a fad that could be called violence cool. Throughout American history, there have been spates of deadly outlaws being glamorized and-or sensationalized by Hollywood and the media—train robbers like Cassidy and Sundance, 1930s gangsters like bonnie and Clyde, lynchers, gangs like West Side Story, angry white guys who avenge misbehavior by punks (Bernhard Goetz), blacks beating up random white people (Reginald Denny), gay bashing. Painting a curse word on a church won’t get your art work on the evening new, but painting a swastika on a synagogue will. In a couple of years, it’ll be something else. And Hollywood and the media will do all they can to drain every drop of box office and ratings out of it. Arguably, they and the viewers who tune in are more responsible for this nonsense than the various losers who pull the triggers."

The Oak Harbor Wildcats have offered to accept second place in the Wesco 3A North football standings after Friday's game against Marysville Pilchuck was postponed in the wake of Friday's shootings at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Oak Harbor head coach Jay Turner and Marysville superintendent Becky Berg have confirmed the Wildcats have made the offer.

So many firsts here. An athlete. A homecoming prince. And a native American.

We're so gosh darn proud of you Jaylen Fryberg. Other school shooters sorta stumbled into their all-expenses-paid eternity in hell. But you earned it.

What's particularly strange about this one is he shot the friends he normally eats lunch with, including a cousin.

guns, like drugs and alcohol, can give one an inflated sense of importance and like organized religion, guns are for the weak minded who need to hide

Even odder is that he used a gun instead of a tomahawk
